Live at the
Candlelight
Club

I’ve been running the Candlelight Club since 2010. It’s a pop-up 1920s speakeasy themed event, usually happening once or twice a month, and we always have live jazz bands playing. Since 2016 I’ve been recording their live performances and posting mixes to our Soundcloud account, and you can find a few samples below. The performances are great but the conditions are full of challenges: it’s not a demure jazz club but a raucous knees-up filled with hen parties doing conga lines, so dealing with background noise and bleed between the instruments is always a challenge—though I actually quite like having a certain amount of audience response in the mix, as it does give a good sense of what it’s like to be at these events…
